Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics provides a wide-range of services, whose purpose is to meet the complete health needs of women in our communities.
A Healthcare Navigator will serve as the liaison between patients, family members, hospital staff, physicians and other appropriate resources. This person will provide health education to assist in the use of existing health services, as deemed appropriate, and to increase patient and family satisfaction through efficient planning of care and use of resources. The Navigator will be available at Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics as a guide for women in their journey to better health.
Aspirus Iron River has two very experienced and highly skilled physicians ready to focus on the orthopedic needs of women. These Aspirus physicians, along with competent personnel, provide an all encompassing range of services from physical therapy to surgery: repair, rebuild or replace a joint. Forty-five million Americans have osteoporosis or low bone mass. A bone density scan (DEXA) is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis, before a broken bone occurs.
Often lab tests are required to assist in finding the source of the osteoporosis. When the physician has these results, a patient specific treatment plan can be implemented. Treatments can vary from diet, medication and/or Physical Therapy. All of these services can be acquired at Aspirus.
Cardiac symptoms manifest differently in women, so cardiac focus for women is our priority. Aspirus will offer women a high level of expertise, with the added ability to refer to highly skilled partners when necessary.
As a critical component of a healthy woman, the vascular/vein service is composed of necessary evaluations and care to help insure the best possible outcomes. There are more than 25 million Americans who suffer from uncomfortable and unsightly varicose veins. Aspirus Surgical Associates have several techniques to treat vascular abnormalities. An in-the-office procedure, Sclerotherapy, will fade or eliminate discoloration of "spider" veins with a simple injection. Treatment of varicose veins is done with a laser treatment, known as Endovenous Ablation. Ablation treatment is performed at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital, but patients will be able to leave shortly after the procedure with minimum pain.
The qualified Aspirus staff is committed to provide the most comfortable experience during needed procedures for all women. Aspirus can provide annual mammograms, breast ultrasounds and image-guided breast core biopsy. We will also be adopting a new biopsy method called 'vacuum assisted biopsy' or VAB. This will offer women a minimally invasive procedure rather than having an incision for tissue removal. Patients undergoing this procedure are able to return to work or regular activity immediately. Communication and caring are the guiding principles of breast care for women at Aspirus.
The emotional health of a woman is a vital component of overall good health. Aspirus offers support for depression, eating disorders, addictions, abuse and suicide prevention and other programs designed specifically for the emotional well-being of the women in our communities.
Our Aspiring Women program will offer many opportunities for health screenings and wellness experiences for women in this community. Screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and bone density will be available regularly. Aspirus offers annual skin clinics to help insure women's wellness.
Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics, through Aspiring Women, will offer a variety of educational programs to support health and wellness, specifically for women. Resources will be available on the website, in a resource library, at on-going lectures, and through a variety of support groups.
The Aspiring Women program at Aspirus Iron River Hospital is committed to the needs of women of all ages. Therefore a focus on young women will be addressed through a variety of programs offered "tweens" to provide support, resources, and education to help girls to grow up with the skills and information to live healthy lives.
