On November 17 at the Stevens Point Holiday Inn Convention Center, AHVI surgeon John A. Johnkoski, M.D., will discuss thoracoscopic ablation, a minimally invasive surgery for treating atrial fibrillation. The seminar runs from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Atrial fibrillation is a common condition that causes the heart to beat irregularly and greatly increases the risk of stroke. The condition can be fairly well managed with Coumadin, a blood thinner that helps reduce the risk of stroke, but the drug can produce side effects that are difficult for some people to handle.
Thoracoscopic ablation allows people to get off medications, prevent strokes and live longer. Dr. Johnkoski is one of fewer than 50 physicians in the nation that performs the procedure. During the seminars, Dr. Johnkoski will discuss:
To register for either seminar, call the Aspirus Information Center at 800.847.4707, or send an e-mail to afibclinic@aspirus.org that includes your name, phone number, address, and the number of people attending.
