    Nurse Practice Model

A unified System Nursing Professional Practice Model for Aspirus was developed based on feedback from frontline nurses and nurse leaders across the system, as to what being a professional nurse meant to them.

    Guiding Principles

Nurses embody the Aspirus mission, vision, and values through excellence in care delivery and compassion for the people we serve. The needs of our patients, families and communities guide our decisions because they are at the center of everything we do.

    • In every encounter, Aspirus nurses across the continuum of care provide services with integrity to form respectful relationships with all those we encounter.
    • Aspirus nurses collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary care team to provide optimal team-based care.
    • We advocate for the achievement of desired goals by partnering with the patient, family, and community.
    • Care excellence and continuous improvement is our ever-present pursuit.
    • Aspirus nurses recognize others for dedication to our system of care and competency advancement and seek out opportunities to show appreciation for one another.
    • We embrace change to drive new knowledge and innovation in practice.
    • Aspirus nurses actively partner with leadership in shared decision-making for the best possible solutions and outcomes.
    • This professional responsibility promotes and fosters an empowered practice environment

Daisy Award - Recognizing and Celebrating Nursing

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by members of the Patrick Barnes’ family. Patrick was 33 years old when he died of an auto-immune disease. Despite their grief, his family was thankful for the extraordinary nursing care provided to him and them. During his eight-week illness in the hospital, they established the DAISY® award in Patrick’s honor. What started out as a thank you from their family to nurses has grown into a meaningful recognition program embraced by healthcare organizations around the world.

    Pathway to Excellence Journey

As we continue to advance nursing unification efforts across the system, Aspirus is on a journey with the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) nursing excellence designation program known as “Pathway to Excellence (PTE)”. The PTE framework identifies the elements of inter-professional work environments where nurses flourish and are empowered.  The PTE designation is granted based on the confirmed presence of the six PTE Practice Standards: Shared decision-making, Leadership, Safety, Quality, Well-being, and Professional development. Learn more about the Pathways to Excellence Program.

In November of 2018, Aspirus Langlade Hospital announced their success of PTE designation following a 1.5-year journey. Aspirus is working on a systemwide timeline to achieve Pathway to Excellence designation.
