SkinPen Microneedling

SkinPen microneedling system is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that improves the skin’s appearance in as few as three treatments spaced 30 to 45 days apart.

Reasons to Consider Microneedling

Mircroneedling may help with the following issues:

  • Acne scarring
  • Dark spots or patches
  • Large pores
  • Scars
  • Loose skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun damage

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves pricking the skin with tiny needles.  The body reacts to these micro injuries by producing more collagen and elastin, which causes the skin to have a more youthful, radiant appearance.

There is minimal downtime with this procedure. A specific post-procedure skin care routine is needed and will be discussed by your healthcare provider. You can return to your normal skin care routine in 7 days. Exercise, excessive sweating, and sun exposure are also to be avoided for 72 hours after the procedure.

What is the treatment like and how long does it take?

  • Microneedling procedures are performed in the office.
  • A topical numbing agent is put on the area of the skin receiving the treatment
  • A pen-shaped device is moved across the skin.  The tiny needles make minuscule, unnoticeable cuts in the skin.
  • Depending on the size of the treatment area, the process will take from 20 to 45 minutes.
  • A topical ointment is applied after the procedure to prevent the skin from getting too dry.
  • It will probably take three or more treatments that are four to six weeks apart to receive the optimal results.

How long does microneedling last?

Once maximum results have been achieved, a maintenance treatment done every 12 to 18 months should be all that is needed.  Everyone’s skin is different so the length of time between the maintenance treatments depends on the individual.  A recommended skin care routine should be followed to experience the most lasting results.
