Aspirus offers screening mammograms to women beginning at age 40 and continuing annually. Although not all organizations agree on breast cancer screening guidelines on when to begin routine screening, there is agreement on the part of all groups that beginning screening at 40 may make sense for some women after considering the benefits and limitations of the test.

A note about screening options: Aspirus does not support the use of thermography/infrared imaging of the breast as either a screening tool in the detection of breast cancer or as a supplemental diagnostic tool. It was approved by the FDA in 1982 only as a supplement to mammography.
