12 Month Full-Time Fellowship Program
The fellowship is designed to give physicians additional training to practice hospital medicine in any setting. There is no required start date and flexible start times are available. Two physician fellowship spots are available per year.

MD/DO Requirements
- Completion of Residency: The program is intended for recent family medicine graduates. However, internal medicine and practicing physicians are welcome to apply.
- Board Certified or Board-Eligible: Must be board eligible to participate. Must be board certified to complete the fellowship year and receive the certificate.
Eight Months of Specialty Rotations
- Two months cardiology
- One month critical care
- One month surgery (a mix of trauma, general, and vascular)
- Two weeks of neurology
- Two weeks of nephrology
- Two weeks of pharmacy
- Two weeks of wound care
- One month of rural ER
- One month of rural hospitalist medicine
Supported Hospital Time
- Four months of supported hospitalist time at the end of the year to ramp up to independent practice.
Two Required Conferences
- Society of Hospital Medicine annual meeting (Converge)
- CHEST - Ultrasonography: Essentials in Critical Care

- Thoracentesis
- Paracentesis

Benefits
- Base compensation: $90,000.00
- Loan repayment: If the fellow signs an employment agreement with a five (5) year forgiveness period with Aspirus’ Hospitalist group, they will be eligible for a one-time Fellowship Support Stipend of $200,000.00, paid in biweekly increments.
- Insurance and retirement: Fellows will be included in the same benefit plan as employed hospitalists.
- Conference and Continuing Medical Education (CME): Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) membership and two conferences are required. (Expenses are reimbursed.)
- Moonlighting: Additional shifts outside of rotations will be compensated hourly at the attending hospitalist wage based on the shift
- Paid time off (PTO): Two weeks (14 twelve-hour shifts)
- Housing: A stipend may be available for housing with away rotations.
- Travel: For away rotations, an additional stipend may be available for mileage
Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) Fellowship Program
The APC fellowship will be a focused 6-month rotation to prepare new graduates to practice hospital medicine. APC’s with experience and changing departments are welcome to apply as well.

Specialty Rotations

- Specialty rotations will be flexible and based on the needs of the learner. Options include pharmacy, ICU, surgery, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, wound care, ER
Supported Hospital Time
- Weeks 19 to 26
- 7 days on, 7 days off
Base Compensation
- Six Month Base Compensation: $30,000
- Fellowship Support Stipend
- Frontload $20,000 during 6 month Fellowship
- Biweekly Stipend: $1,538.46 per pay period
- Requires signing an Aspirus Hospitalist APC employment agreement with a promissory note and a one year forgiveness period after the initial term of employment as a Hospitalist APC.
- NOTE: Eligible for up to an additional $20,000 for sign-on bonus and student load forgiveness when employment starts as a Hospitalist APC
- Benefits are the same as the employed hospitalist APC’s
- One required conference, either the SHM hospitalist boot camp or the CHEST essentials in critical care ultrasound course.
- Extra Shifts Paid at Aspirus Hospitalist APC Rate of Pay plus an Extra Shift Premium ($20 per hour)
- Eligibility for Hospitalist APC Fellows to cover extra shifts requires approval from the System Hospitalist Medical Director

- Hourly = $60.00 + $20.00 = $80.00

- Swing (AWH):
- Hourly = $62.15 + $20.00 = $82.15
- 12 hour Shift = $985.80
- Holiday Shift Premium = 150%
