Family Medicine

Family medicine providers have expertise in general family care, including providing preventive care, diagnosing illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, for patients of all ages – from birth throughout adulthood.

Some family medicine providers are also certified in obstetrics, which allows them to provide family-centered pregnancy care and delivery services. Family medicine doctors often care for the same patients throughout their lives, and in many cases, they care for multiple generations of family members.

Pediatrics

Aspirus offers a full-spectrum of pediatric care from birth to young adulthood. A pediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in treating infants, children, and adolescents, and young adults; they perform regular wellness checkups as well as treat and diagnose a wide range of conditions.

To support our youngest and most vulnerable patients, Aspirus Wausau Hospital provides a Newborn Intensive Care Unit for premature and critically-ill newborns.

Aspirus is also proud to provide education and resources about children’s safety, injury prevention and other initiatives through our partnership with Safe Kids Wausau Area and our Aspirus Children’s Safety Center, which offers reduced-rate children’s safety items in Medford and Wausau.

Internal Medicine

An internal medicine physician, or internist, is a primary care physician with special training focusing on the care, treatment and prevention of adult diseases.

Many adults see an internist as their primary care provider. Aspirus internists understand the medical needs specific to adults and, and they treat patients ranging from adolescents to the elderly.

For treatment of serious illnesses, injuries, or other conditions (such as chest pain or stroke symptoms) that require immediate medical attention, call 911 or go directly to the nearest Emergency Department without delay.
