Aspirus to Begin Renovation and Expansion of Aspirus Houghton Clinic

Aspirus is proud to announce a transformative $5 million renovation and expansion project at Aspirus Houghton Clinic. This initiative – which will improve efficiency, access and the patient experience – underscores Aspirus' dedication to addressing the growing health care needs in the Keweenaw and surrounding areas.

Onsite work is scheduled to begin in late April, with an estimated complete date of January 2026.

“We are committed to continuously improving health care for the Keweenaw region,” said Laura Brogan, Director – Regional Clinics.  “While the clinic has served this community for many years, it became clear that to meet the growing needs of our patients, we needed to expand services and capacity.”

Key features of the project include:

  • 13 new exam rooms.
  • Two new procedure rooms.
  • A drive-through pharmacy.
  • Redesigned central registration area and waiting room.
  • Updates to existing space.

In these challenging times, Aspirus is dedicated to innovating and transforming its care models and processes. This approach ensures that the system continues to deliver excellent, compassionate care that meets evolving community needs.

“This investment demonstrates our dedication to maximizing the impact of our resources,” Brogan said. “We’re excited to enhance and broaden local care while contributing to the growth of the local economy.”
