(Stanley, WI)- Leaders from Aspirus Health recently updated three area legislators on several important initiatives to expand medical services to rural areas of Wisconsin.
State Representatives Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) and Karen Hurd (R-Withee) as well as State Senators Jesse James (R-Thorp) visited Aspirus Stanley Hospital last week to gain information and insight into Aspirus Health including the plans for a new hospital and clinic in Chippewa Falls.
Aspirus recently finalized the purchase of 22.1 acres of land in Chippewa Falls and plans to break ground in the coming months for the project which marks a significant step toward helping close health care gaps in the region.
The new Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic will be located on Chippewa Crossing Boulevard, near the intersection of Seymour Cray Sr. boulevard. Initial services will include primary care, emergency services, inpatient care, as well as lab and imaging capabilities.
The legislative group also toured Aspirus Stanley Hospital and Clinic to learn more about the critical access hospital and clinic and the services provided by Aspirus in its northwest division which also includes Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinic as well as several community-based primary care clinics and other services in the legislators’ districts.
“We are grateful for the time of our elected officials and appreciate the opportunity to highlight our existing operations and future plans for Chippewa Falls,” said Jason Troxell, President, Aspirus WI Northwest Division.
Other features of the legislative visit included an overview of Aspirus Health’s Community Health Improvement program which includes extensive community involvement and a longstanding commitment to local populations with programs focusing on mental health and access to care.
“This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services,” said Anne Sadowska, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus WI Northwest Division. “We look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics with our elected officials.”
Additional focus on important health care specific topics like Medicare reimbursement, Wisconsin’s Next of Kin legislation and proposed reforms to prior authorization regulations all generated healthy discussion.
