Howard Young Medical Center – part of Aspirus Health has been named a ‘Top Recommended Hospital’ by Becker’s Hospital Review, recognized for its high level of patient satisfaction based on patients’ likelihood to recommend the facility to others.
Becker’s compiled this prestigious list of hospitals across the nation, utilizing data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, which is managed by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The survey measures various aspects of the patient experience, including the critical question, "Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?"

The HCAHPS star rating system, which uses patient feedback from surveys completed in 2023, takes into account responses from hospitals with at least 100 completed surveys in a fourth-quarter period. The ranking is based on patients’ satisfaction with the care they received and their likelihood of recommending the hospital to others.

The HCAHPS survey, developed by CMS and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), is a standardized instrument used to assess patient experiences in hospitals nationwide. The survey provides a consistent method for hospitals to measure and improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction.
