Learning and healing as an Aspirus CNA

Patient care is a team effort. When seeking health care, a patient interacts with several members of the healthcare team when entering an Aspirus facility. This team includes the treating physician, nurses and all the support staff that help make things go.

That’s where people such as Sydney Richetto fit into the Aspirus team. She’s a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Aspirus Wausau Hospital (AWH) Emergency Department (ED).

She joined Aspirus after college in April 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was sweeping across the country.

“I plan on attending medical school and I wanted to get more one on one physician experience,” says Sydney. “My only on the job experience has been during the pandemic, but it’s been very educational.”

CNAs play an important role in patient care and their services are in high demand.

“I did a lot of shadowing with medical staff at several different health care organizations when I was in college,” says Sydney. “I really liked the people and providers at Aspirus. That’s why I decided to come here.”

She also gets a lot of one-on-one patient experience in her current role. Most of her day is spent helping triage ED patients, taking vitals, obtaining necessary bedside diagnostics, and helping providers treat patients. She is gaining to valuable experience she needs as she advances her medical professional career.

“If you’re looking to get your feet wet in the medical field or even become a career CNA, Aspirus is a great place to learn and grow.”
