Ashley Gotz Wins Aspirus Riverview Sunflower Award

Congratulations to Ashley Gotz, Medical Assistant with Aspirus Cancer Care-Wisconsin Rapids. Ashley is the winner of Aspirus Riverview's quarterly Sunflower Award. She was nominated by the grateful patient, who wrote:

Last week I went into the WR Cancer Center and am always welcomed with a smile upon check-in and friendly hello upon every visit.

Ashley called me from the waiting room. I went back and asked if she was all alone today because I didn’t see any employees. She said, "I’m flying solo today.” Despite being short-handed, Ashley was very positive in her demeanor, still smiling, and acted in a swift manner, yet focused. She was able to have a conversation with me, talk to an RN, and then a patient at the same time. When she was done helping us all, she turned back to me, apologized and smiled and said, “Where were we?” She finished up our appointment and was on to the next patient with a big smile and the energy of a 12-year-old. She made me giggle with her cuteness!

Ashley contributed to my patient care that day by making me feel seen and heard. She focused on my time with her during my appointment time to make me feel very special and that it was “my time” at the moment, despite being extremely busy. It was pretty amazing that a person could give so much of herself away when there was only one of her!!

Ashley, you definitely were my sunflower that morning. You open up your soul to your patients with such genuine kindness and love. Keep being you, because you know what?? It’s beautiful!!!

The Sunflower Award recognizes Aspirus Health's support staff for the extraordinary care and support they deliver every day while demonstrating Aspirus' core values: Compassion, Accountability, Collaboration, Foresight and Joy.
