Aspirus Divine Savior respiratory therapist joins medical team for first All-Female Badger Honor Flight
On May 14, Aspirus Divine Savior's Lynn Waldera was aboard the first All-Female Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C. She was a member of the (all-female) medical team, serving as the respiratory therapist. Lynn helped with the safe use of oxygen and maintaining of charged batteries for portable devices so veterans who required them could safely make the trip, while also monitoring attendees for any signs of medical emergency or change in status.
The female veterans were taken to Washington D.C. where they visited Arlington National Cemetery, Marine Corps Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Air Force Memorial. They were welcomed to D.C. with cheers and recognition and received the same in Madison when they returned.
The women recognized they blazed the trail for women in today's military. One WWII veteran will be celebrating her 99th birthday next month.
Thank you, Lynn, for giving your time and expertise so our veterans could experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
