The Chippewa Falls Planning Commission has granted approval for the conditional use permit to Aspirus Health for the construction of a new hospital, following a public hearing held on Monday. This milestone marks a key step forward in the process of establishing a local hospital to meet the community’s health care needs.
The approval helps pave the way for bringing accessible emergency and inpatient services to the residents of Chippewa Falls and beyond.
Aspirus announced in November the intent to address the health care gaps in the Chippewa Falls area that have emerged in the wake of recent hospital and health care service closures.
Aspirus is committed to creating a progressive, sustainable facility that will provide essential emergency care, inpatient hospital services and primary care, with plans for the facility to be operational as early as 18 months of receiving all necessary approvals. The collaboration between Aspirus and local officials emphasizes the shared goal of enhancing health care access in Chippewa Falls.
The next steps involve finalizing the land purchase agreement and obtaining developer agreement approval from the City Council, which is anticipated within the next few weeks. Aspirus is in the final stages of negotiating these agreements to ensure a smooth path forward.
