Aspirus Langlade Hospital Auxiliary Honored

On Monday August 15th Aspirus Langlade Hospital recognized the Aspirus Langlade Hospital Auxiliary for their dedication to the community.
The Auxiliary started preparations for a hospital in Antigo in 1931. Curtains, tablecloths, and infant layettes were sewn and in 1933 when the doors opened, over 2,000 handmade articles were ready for use. The Auxiliary provided the first $50 donation in 1950. The decades of service of the members have realized a total of $535,000 in donations to Aspirus Langlade Hospital and Clinics since inception.
“The Auxiliary has been instrumental in the history of the Hospital. It was with great pride that we were able to acknowledge and express deep gratitude for this significant milestone with the Auxiliary members who have assisted to make our hospital what it is today” said Sherry Bunten, Aspirus Langlade Hospital President.
The Auxiliary raised and provided funds for equipment to enhance patient care in many areas of the Hospital and Clinics over the years. In the 1980’s, they started to provide scholarships for students pursuing careers in healthcare, which continued through 2022.
In 2009, Partners of Wisconsin Hospital Association awarded the Wisconsin Award for Volunteer Excellence in community service to the Auxiliary for their donation of handmade toe warmers to the Orthopedic and Emergency departments.
The Parade of Homes fundraiser began in 1996 and ended in 2017, raising over $180,000 for hospital and clinic needs. Other events they spearheaded over the years included bake/craft Sales, Love Lights, an Annual Fundraiser (Denim & Diamonds), Music in the Park pie and sandwich sales, and Blood Bank support, just to name a few.
The Auxiliary was honored and celebrated at their last formal meeting by several leaders of the hospital and the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, Sisters Adele and Dolores Demulling.
Aspirus Langlade Hospital will continue to raise funds through the Volunteer Services program, as well as in collaboration with our local Community Health Foundation.
